PLANTS
What strikes you immediately about this plant centre
is the cleanliness. It's spotless! In our eyes, that says a lot
about the plants they sell.
On top of that, because this plant centre concentrates on plants and
garden accessories, the range of plants available is larger then you
would expect.
Another great plus for this plant centre is that
many of the walkways in the outdoor plant area are under cover.
Sheffield gets its fair share of rain so this is useful.
The layout is very engaging, some parts of the outdoor area being on two levels. All areas are ramped for ease of access.
We visited the New Leaf Plant Centre in late winter which is a good time for buying and planting roses. The variety of roses available at this time of year was exceptionally large. As well as the standard named varieties there was a large selection of David Austen roses which are becoming more popular. All hardy plants come with a one year guarantee.
Finding your way around the outdoor plant area was easy, mainly
because of the large number of clear signs. This was good news
because the range of trees, plants and shrubs was extensive.
The walkways were unusually wide and of course, uncluttered. Great news for wheelchair users.
One of the pictures above shows the large range of fruit trees
available. In addition, New Leaf Plant Centre have the largest range of ornamental
trees we have ever seen on display. If you are looking for ornamental or
fruit trees this plant centre is definitely worth going out of your way to
find.
INDOOR AREA
The indoor area contained house plants and garden accessories. The range
of house plants was good and they all looked healthy and very well cared
for. The prices of the house plants was lower than normal. The range of
accessories was comprehensive. As the picture on the left shows,
there was a respectable range of good quality water features.
CAR PARKING
There were more than enough spaces in the car park and it was level and
dry.
