Our impression of Grasmere was of a medium-sized garden centre with a traditional and friendly atmosphere. Friendly, knowledgeable and approachable staff make this a garden centre worth visiting.

PLANTS
As a traditional garden centre, a large area was given over to plant sales. The outdoor area is pleasantly arranged and the main pathways are covered.
The quality of the plants was excellent although no hardy plant guarantee was advertised. All the normal plants were there on sale and there was a fair selection of less common plants.
It is easy to find your way around the outdoor area.
Plant groups were well signed and in alphabetical order within their
groups.
The paths were wide enough for wheelchair access although the majority of the outdoor area was on a slope. This should not be a problem for most.
If rockery plants are of interest to you then Grasmere has an
unusually large selection (see right).
Also on site was a swimming pool sales are and a selection of greenhouses.
Grasmere Garden centre have made pricing plants a whole lot easier than most. There are lots signs (see right) around the plant area which show that the colour of the pot determines the price.
This doesn't apply to all plants but it does cover the majority. A great idea.
